According to the American Society for Reproductive Health, infertility affects about 6.1 million women and their partners in the United States – about ten percent of the reproductive-age population.  Most infertility cases (85% to 90%) are treated with conventional medical therapies such as medication or surgery.  

Generally speaking, infertility is defined when you’ve been trying to get pregnant unsuccessfully for a year. Once you’ve reached that point, you may want to ask your primary care physician or ob-gyn for a referral to a reproductive specialist.
